Chicken Marsala ala His Hotness and My FIRST GIVEAWAY!!! 3 Will Win!

Chicken Marsala

Tyler is absent this week from my TFF(Tyler Florence Fridays) post. Yeah, wanna know why? Well, he was busy doing this
and then this
and then this,
and the final straw was this, speaking to the bottle! I had it. This was Unacceptable! Not on OUR day!
I got so mad at him.. doesn't he know how precious our Friday cooking sessions are?? He tried to fight back telling me He was OK to cook,
but I didn't accept his apologies. I sent him packing. And boy, was he furious! He was in the wrong, but Furious nonetheless! He looks kinda hot when he's furious. Take me Great Dane!
But then he showed up a bit later with these glasses on, and I melted a bit,
and oh lord, eyeglasses are like my FFHs (firefighter husband)firefighter boots, it just does something to me, its twinge making. He promises to be back in my saddle again next week, and GUESS WHAT!!!??? He is bringing me a GIFT!! A GIFT for me, from My Guy TY!! To be revealed next week, OH-- the suspense, I just love when he teases me, love it, love it, oh, yes, and I love it! I can NOT wait to see what it is.. The anticipation is killing me. I hope you come back and visit me to see what he gives me, see if his gift is worthy of my forgiveness. Lotsa business to take car of today, a recipe for TFF,
and giveaway details. SO, this is gonna be a quickie.

Speaking of quickies, do you like them? They have their moments. I've been practicing for ONE specific quickie for a while.. I mean we've all done the normal quickies in the limo, the bathroom of a friends house, the backyard of a neighbors house, the hotel pool, the airplane, the dressing room at Target, the balcony of a bar in Key West, under the boardwalk, under the bleachers, in a hot air balloon, deck of a cruise ship, elevator in Atlantic City, you know the norm. BUT I have always had trouble with ONE specific quickie. You know which one?? THE CAR WASH!!

I have tried and tried but the deed was never fully accomplished until this afternoon. YAY! Mission Fulfilled. Took a while , it was a challenge, but if you'd like to try I recommend the following:

  • Make sure partner is driving
  • Get the partner hot and bothered prior to entering the car wash.
  • Practice your Kegels for weeks before
  • Good tunes on the radio
  • Miniskirt, no undergarments
  • Your cell phone camera to record it all.
  • Then go post it on You tube.
  • Thank me later
Chicken Marsala ala Tyler Florence can be found here.

Get some chicken breasts about 4-6, and flatten them to about 1/4 inch thickness. Put some flour, seasoned with salt and pepper, in a shallow pan, and mix with a fork to distribute evenly. Coat your chicken with the flour and set aside.Heat your oil in a large skillet, and pan fry the chicken on both sides till golden.
Set aside and keep warm. Lower heat to medium and add your prosciutto to the drippings in skillet,
and saute for 1 minute. Then add your mushrooms,
and saute till nicely browned and moisture has evaporated, about 5 minutes.
Season with your Salt and pepper. Pour your Marsala in the pan,
cook for a few seconds, then add the chicken broth and simmer for 1 minute to reduce slightly. Add the butter and slide the chicken back in the pan.
Simmer gently for 1 minute to heat chicken through. Season again with salt and pepper. Garnish with the parsley.
Serve with sauce poured over.
This was delicious. It was moist, flavorful and I will be making it again! My FFH actually gave it 10 stars, he even gave 10 stars to the new side dish I made--another post, another day.
AND no, he didn't say 10 stars because of the car wash quickie triumph incident, he thoroughly enjoyed it!! Thanks His Hotness!
You made my fire guy a happy man!!

  4. You always crack me up!

I still love my Good Housekeeping cookbook - it's the very first cookbook that I ever used. The pages are falling out and some are stuck together, but I still turn to it!

    Thanks for the fun giveaway!

  5. Oh lord- Kegels are my friend! Let me tell you.

My most favorite cookbook is actually one that my dad bought decades ago from a boat shop. Boat shop? Boat shop. It is called Six Ingredients or less- and it is just that. Everything is created to be able to be easily made in a boat kitchen- tiny and simple, but still really good. I love it!

I am going to come back to you in a few days and leave another comment because #1 NEVER GETS PICKED!

    Thanks for the tip! ;)

  8. Donna I bow to your greatness! You're impressive!

Thanks for passing along the recipe. Actually I read the last several posts but was bumped offline before I could comment on each. I have a flour to ceiling bookchef in the kitchen overflowing with cookbooks but don't bake or cook out of any. :-( Lately the three blogs I've been cooking from are the crepes of wrath,
for the love of cooking, and yours!

  9. Donna your chicken marsala looks better than mine! Prosciutto? That's a good idea! I wonder why the Stirring the Pot book doesn't have the prosciutto in there?
Hmmm...favorite cookbook??? Face Down, did I actually say that? Oh..sorry! I mean I guess I have to say it is currently Stirring the Pot by Tyler. But really it is my red and white checkered Better Homes and Gardens that my mom got me for Christmas when I was in high school. That Christmas morning I looked at that book for over 4 hours! It was probably the best gift anyone ever gave me. It opened up a whole new world for me and I have been obsessed with cooking ever since then! I'll never forget how excited I was to look at all those recipes that morning. It's a book that is a tradition in my family. My mom, my aunt and me all have one. I guess eventually my daughter will have one too! I hope she likes hers as much as I did.

  10. I LOVE Chicken Marsala! This looks SO good!

My go-to cookbook, even though it's not terribly innovative, is the Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook. I got it at one of my wedding showers. It's got all of the basics and traditional favorites. I can't go wrong with BHG.

Is it bad luck to be the first entry for a contest?

  11. Holy moley girl...you lead a wild life. There is no way that is even possible.

    ReplyDelete
  31. No quickie in the fire truck yet? You're slipping!! My favorite cookbook is my 1982 edition of Betty Crocker's Cookbook. Not for the generic recipes it has, but for the "I love my mom" sticker that my son decorated the cover with (he's now 32) and for the pictures of our kids (as babies) that are tucked into various sections of the book...for the old blueberry stains on the blueberry pie page (my kids picked the berries) and for the inside cover that lists the names of spices (and my kids wrote "yuck" on a few of them LOL. The book is falling apart and is totally outdated, but I love it for all the memories tucked into it.

  32. 10 stars from the FFH - it must be a must! And I have a bottle of marsala that could be used up (I tried to drink it - and oh no, yuk! My favorite cookbook is a tough one. I usually get most of my recipes off the Net now. I'd have to say "Le Cordon Bleu at Home".

    ReplyDelete

Now excuse me, I gotta go "talk" to the hubby.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Love the chicken marsala recipe. I confess I don't own a lot of cookbooks, but I guess my fave is "The Romagnolis' Table," northern Italian recipes. PS I think you may have missed the muffin recipe posted before the London broil. It's a 10 out of 10 and right up your alley (crumb topped chocolate cinnamon swirl).

Favorite cookbook.....I usually find my recipes online, does that count? I have a huge collection of cookbooks, I just don't use them very much anymore. If I had to pick one, I'd say my Bed & Breakfast, Country Inn cookbook (I think that's what it's called).

It has all of the homestyle food I equate with comfort. My other favorite cookbook is a cookbook a church in my hometown put together. I love it because it is a collection of recipes by some of the people I grew up around, which gives it sentimental value as well as tasty value! :)

  85. My favorite cookbook is Marcella Hazan's The Classic Italian Cookbook. To me, that's the book that helped Americans realize there's more to Italian food than spaghetti and meatballs. Hazan also taught us things like adding Parmesan rind to soup and making lasagna with bechamel rather than ricotta--in the early 1960's, when Hazan was writing, no one was doing that!

    ReplyDelete

  90. Came here from a link to a link from a link . . . . My favorite cookbook of all is the one from my childhood - Betty Crocker's Kids Cookbook. Many memories associated with that one. And when I see the pictures, it's instant time travel.

  91. Yum! I love Chicken Marsala. I've never made this version.

I'm very fond of the 1950 Betty Crocker Picture Cook Book

Have a good weekend! You and the FFH better not get yourselves arrested because I'd miss reading your blog! LOL

  92. I have seen some good chicken marsala before. But this looks like GOOD chicken marsala. Leave it to Tyler to put that extra something into it.

And my favorite cookbook of the moment is Bon Appetit's Fast Easy Fresh. But that's probably only because I haven't made anything from my new Tyler Cookbook yet.

  96. The chicken dish looks HOT! One of my favorite cookbook is *I'm Dreaming Of A Chocolate Christmas* and my favorite position is... oh yea, I dont have to reveal that. Thanks for the giveaway and wish me luck. ;-)

  97. My favorite cookbook? Well, I have two. One is Ina Garten's "Barefoot in Paris" because it's the first cookbook I bought when I caught the cooking bug. My thoughts of, "Yeah, right...who can cook French food?" turned into, "Holy crap, *I* can cook French food!"

My second favorite cookbook is "Rome" by Maureen B. Fant. We met her in Rome, shopped the Testaccio Outdoor Market with her, and took those ingredients back to the cramped kitchen in her apartment that overlooks the Colosseum and cooked a fabulous, memorable meal together.

  98. I have so many cookbooks I love, but my absolute favorite would have to be Dorie Greenspan's From my kitchen to yours. I've made most of her recipes, and they have never ever failed me yet!

  99. I found your blog through Heidi's blog and I have to say I love your blog. My favorite cookbook is "Fit-It and Forget-It" by Phyllis Pelman Good.

  103. My favorite cookbook would have to be Martha Stewarts cookie cookbook. I love that one!! Your chicken looks amazing!!

  104. Picking a favorite cookbook is like picking a favorite restaurant in New York--do you want a Chicago dog at the Shake Shack or something Jean Georges whipped up. No can do....Great chicken marsala, and next time I will use prosciutto instead of ham.

  105. Well this post was quite an introduction to your blog! My favorite cookbook, right now, is Williams Sonoma Slow Cooking. Get out those Dutch ovens for this one!

  113. Thanks for passing by my blog. Your blog is lovely and I've read a few of your posts and you have a great sense of humour as well. Since you are giving away some books I am leaving my comment here, who knows may be I'll be lucky. I don't have many cookbooks and even if I mention the title you want know it as it is in Greek

  114. Chicken Marsala with PROSCIUTTO!? Sounds freakin amazing, I've got to get that going in my kitchen immediately. And a recipe ala TF, how could it go wrong?
As for my favorite recipe book... it's not a cookbook I guess because its a desserty book... but I'd have to go with the book I always rave about - The Perfect Scoop by David Lebovitz. I don't own really any other recipe book that I keep going back to, haven't found a FANTASTIC amazing one yet. Maybe one day, though!

  115. Favorite cookbook? That's a difficult questions because it depends what I am cooking or looking for. I really love pretty much any cookbook Giada deLaurentiis releases.

  116. Hi. I wandered on over here today from Sugamama's Cafe. You are killing me with yummy goodness! This is very bad of you. I'm lazy, you see, and because of that I can't have any of this stuff today.

My favorite sexual position is when my husband throws hey, wouldn't you like to know, you little perverts! (Don't worry, I have a soft sport for perverts)

My favorite cookbook is a Tupperware stack cooker cookbook that had extra blank pages in the back where I wrote a bunch more recipes.

And one more thing? Hi from another SITS girl! :)

  117. Hey! I need a way to subscribe via email lady!

  118. This looks so good! I can't wait to try it!! My favorite cookbook at the moment is the Barefoot Contessa, Back to Basics.

    ReplyDelete
  119. I have been racking my brain -- I have shelves full but I don't often crack them open!! I would say the most used one recently is Foods and Flavors of San Antonio, after that is would be Barefoot Contessa Home Cooking (I think) but I am dying to get my hands on......wait for it.....a cooks illustrated cookbook!!! I almost had another answer!! :)

  120. My most favorite cookbook is "Victoria: at table." It was put out by the people at "Victoria" magazine and features lots of old-fashioned recipes. This weekend I made the herbed roast chicken and the strawberries and cream cake and my mom said it was the best cake she'd ever had in her life!

  121. I don't blame Ty for hitting the bottle after his furious "sessions" with you. Donna, you simply tire him out! No man has enough energy to handle you, even FFH!

    ReplyDelete
  122. My favorite cookbook is the Second Typically Texas Cookbook - you can no longer buy it! I think I found it once on Amazon for $50. I'm so glad I got my copy as a wedding gift.

    ReplyDelete
  123. On top....of my cookbook list is my Fannie Farmer cookbook that my mamma gave me when I got married - it has recipes for anything like how to boil an egg.

    ReplyDelete
  124. this chicken dish looks mighty tasty! A must make!

  125. What a coincidence! I was just copying chicken marsala recipes off another site (none of them reviewed, mind you), and then I stumble on your site quite by accident and here's one that's "tried and true"! And the rest of your recipes look absolutely delicious as well! I love your site already. So many great recipes, and you are a delight to read. What is a good day for me? Finding a new "fav" food blog. Thanks for making my day!! Cheryl in NC
