Linzer Torte Bars and Awards

Linzer Torte Bars

OK, before the recipe for these dee-licious bars, play what if with me will you?

WHAT IF you saw thiswalking down the street towards you, what would the thoughts in your head include, what would come into your mind??

My brain was stuck in traffic mode as wild and crazy ideas entered my horny mind.

My first thought was Holy Crap Id love to see them in cowboy chaps..sans anything else..My second thought was , please oh please, give me a piggyback ride, any one of you.

My third thought was C'mon lets play Giddyup Giddyup Giddyupupup.. Then I thought the sullen man in the back easily has the nicest johnson.. I just know...

Then I thought well, Id let them pass quietly and enjoy the view from behind Then I wished I had some shopping bags to drop so they could look up my skirt. Then I felt like saying to them..Lets try some different things, lets smoke some funny things, lets make love by the lake to my favorite song..lets drink whiskey outta the bottle, lets not think about tomorrow.. you get the idea.

Tell me, what would you think

if these men, or even these men,
came toward you in the street?

Would you look away, would you smile, would you drop your panties, offer $20.00 per half hour ,what?? Inquiring minds wanna know.

OK, onto some Betty Crocker stuff. These Linzer Torte bars

are simple, easy peasy to make and so very tasty. Original recipe found here.

To prep, finely ground your walnuts.

Put your flour, powdered sugar, cinnamon, ground walnuts, and butter in a large bowl.
Mix them together with a spoon till crumblyPress 2/3 of this mixture into the bottom of a 9 X 9 ungreased square pan.
Spread with 2/3 cup red raspberry preserves.
Now, sprinkle with your remaining crumbly mixture and press lightly into preserves..
Bake for 20-25 minutes in a 375 oven till lightly golden brownCool completely about 1 hour. Cut into any size squares you likeThese are so very delicious.
You can make these ahead of time by lining your pan with aluminum foil and leaving the edge of the foil above the rim of the pan on two opposite sides.
Bake as directed and when cool, remove using the two foil handles. Wrap airtight and freeze. Before serving unwrap and let stand 1 hour at room temp.
Award time. I was bestowed with kindness from Cassie, Willoughby and Raoulys Girl with the Passionate Blogger Award.
From Girlichef I received the awesome award.

  10. Linzer cookies are a favorite around here. Yours are perfectly seasoned. The guys need to age a bit. I have no time for teaching.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Mmmm. Delicious! I could use one of those right about now. I'd trade two recipes from my "Favorites Notebook" for just one of those. : ) I'd love to send you the whole thing, but I've gotta find the time to type or scan the whole darn thing.

Thanks for the ideas on my post. I need to remember to try drinking water before meals consistently.

    ReplyDelete
  27. What would I say to that group of guys? Well, I know that I've been married way too long (38 years) because my first thoughts were: #1 what poor posture! #2 they have a pained look on their face! #3 their jeans don't fit well and #4 they need shirts! Those boys would have looked a lot sexier (to me) if they were showing their pearly white teeth. LOL......Yeah, I'm over the hill.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Your blog always makes me smile and your Linzer Torte Bars look scrumptious!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I'm looking at the hot, sweaty, dirty fireman thinking "I'll hose you down my pretties".

You slay me-laughing in the cubicle at work gets me all sorts of crazy looks! And my hubby just shakes his head and says "you're reading Donna again, aren't you?" He knows me so well.

    The bars look fab-u-lous!

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  32. I love Colleen's comment above! It's cute! I would be gawking if I saw guys like that while I was out. I never see anything like that in my little small town. We live in new construction and there are some guys around, but not like that ;) If there looked like the guys in your pic then I'd never get anything done and I'd be staring out the window all day!!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Hmmmm... Did you actually cook something on this post? I must have missed it. I blame the smokin' hot firemen.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Congrats on your awards, love those fireman photos ALOT, and the bars look good too!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Whoa--le creuset worthy acts next post?! You're going to have me waiting with bated breath :) Thanks so much for your lovely awards!! You made my night, Donna! And let's talk about how good those linzer torte bars look. AMAZING. They look so much better than the cookies. Oh, and by the way, traffic can do dangerous things to a girl's mind, huh? I find that when I'm running my imagination tends to go in the same direction :)

    ReplyDelete
  36. One more thing...I miss the Texas cowboys, and their tight jeans of yester'year, but I must say a set of chaps would do!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I don't know what made me drooling more the food or the men. It makes me think that I really might be an ab girl!

Yay for awards, you deserve them!

    ReplyDelete
  38. ...phew, I almost missed the recipe.
I have used a different recipe for Linzerkuchen before, but yours is much simpler. I'll have to make them and compare with mine.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Linzer Torte bars look so delicious! I can't wait to try them! Congrats on the awards!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Hi Donna, I'm sitting here cracking up again, as usual after reading your post! The linzertorte bars look really good. I love linzertorte cookies and bars....saw a recipe a while back for a large linzertorte tart that I would like to try sometime.

    ReplyDelete

Got any lubricants? I'm in a little trouble here.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I love raspberry preserves, but unfortunately, I'll have to make this for my husband and kids and drool as they eat them...unfortunately, I'm allergic to walnuts!

    ReplyDelete
  46. my screen has been splattered with popcorn that flew out of my mouth as I LOLed through your post. you're one wickedly amusing lady!
that bar looks sooo good! I've tried making that before too, but used almonds...
and congrats on the well-deserved awards!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Thanks for leaving me a comment! Your blog is absolutely hilarious. The linzer tort bars also look great--do you think they can be made (and still be tasty) sans nuts? A couple people I bake for either don't like (*gasp*!) or are allergic to nuts but I'd still like to make this recipe. Or, I guess I can just make it as is and just eat the whole thing myself ;)

    ReplyDelete
  48. I made those tortes once with fresh strawberries, gosh that was good. So naturally yours look totally tasty.
Love the hot men. Men with great bodies is truly a work of art., I think.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Wow these look really delicious. I must give them a try!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Oh Donna - do you make me smile! (and laugh) And just when thought I would take the month of May off from baking (chubby time!), you post this delicious recipe.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Those bars look like a perfect weekend treat. Your pictures always make the recipe look simple!

Congrats on the award :) we need to make an award out of one of your hot fireman pictures... it could say something corny like, "your blog is on fire!" with a hottie on it... a donna-specific award to other great blogs...

    ReplyDelete
  58. Great dessert! Those guys looked more like they'd look under my Buffalo tail before looking up your skirt...I didn't know any of the Village People were still alive..HeeHeeHee!

    ReplyDelete
  59. Between all the tasty treats and man eye candy, how do you get anything done!?!?

    ReplyDelete
  60. Oh wow Donna, these look so good (as does everything you cook!). I've never eaten Linzer Cookies, but have heard they are wonderful.
These bars looks amazing and very easy. I think my kids would go crazy for these.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Your linzer tarts and your men look very tasty...don't know which one had me droling more!

    ReplyDelete
  62. I like the dirty ones better.. even though there are fewer of them!

Those Linzer Bars look awesome. I LOVE raspberry!

    ReplyDelete
  63. How do you combine these guys with Betty Crocker in one post? How do you do it????

    ReplyDelete
  64. I would think men like never spend a moment outside the gym, away from a mirror, or aren't particularly into the female species. Men like that have small you-know-whats. It's kind of a fact.

On a food related note, I find I make too many chocolate-infused items and not enough crumbly-fruity things. So maybe I should start now! Thanks for the idea!

    ReplyDelete
  65. These look wonderful! I have a friend that doesn't like chocolate, so these are a perfect dessert to send her! Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  66. Thank you for taking the time to wish my friend Annie a Happy Birthday. I appreciate it- I know you must be busy with all your followers and comments.

The food looks delicious and once again...I am blushing.

    ReplyDelete
  67. They look good enough to eat!! oh and the linzer bars look good too!

    ReplyDelete
  68. These look amazing, Donna! (and the raspberry bars, too) ;) Thanks for such a tasty interlude!

    ReplyDelete
  69. Wow EVERYTHING looks good! I love Linzer Torte (I lived in Linz Austria for a while . . .) I will have to try making these bars!

    ReplyDelete
  70. Donna - my mother received those purple peanuts (somehow, especially on your blog, i feel like i should snicker whenever i say those two words) from a friend who bought them in Taiwan.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Oh my!

Doesn't stop me from laughing, however.

I make a similar cookie; I like yours better, I think, with the ground walnuts. That must bring it right over the top. Recipe's a keeper!

    ReplyDelete
  72. thanks for stopping by!

my food blog really takes a backseat to my other blog, The Entertaining House... I should do more to enhance the way it looks, etc... but that would require me wasting MORE time! And I spend enough time on here as it is!

I love your blog and am adding it to my new faves!

    ReplyDelete
  73. If those boys were coming my way, I'd be so flustered that I wouldn't know where to look! Part of me would be wishing, "oh PLS just walk by quickly & put me out of my misery" ... then the rest of me would be hoping that they'd stop and gimme a little sugah! But since that'll never happen, I'll just munch on your linzer torte bars and dream on.

    ReplyDelete
  74. These look really good. I've made something similar -- will have to try this recipe. BTW, I put the "coffee essence" formula on my post. The CC cookies were not my fave though because they're not crispy on the edges.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Oh, those look delicious...the linzer bars look good too. :)

    ReplyDelete
  76. Recipe sounds perfect for some preserves I need to use up. Congrats on your awards!!

    ReplyDelete
  77. My first award ever, I'm speechless! Thanks so much. I am sending you about a gazillion virtual hugs.

Linzer cookies are my absolute favorite cookies so this will definitely be getting made soon. I can't tell which would be better, seeing the linzer bars or the group of hot men walking towards me. Either way, I'd have to go take a cold shower.

    ReplyDelete
  78. The Linzer Torte Bars look delicious. So do the men. :)

    ReplyDelete
  79. Wow on Boy Baywatch!!!

The linzer torte bars look, well okay, good too.

    ReplyDelete
  80. If I saw them, I would run and hide. I have no self-confidence when it comes to men. I would just assume they were going after some much hotter woman behind me and get out of their way and hope they would at least think I was a nice person for doing so.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Linzer tarts. Thanks for this recipe. I must bookmark!

    ReplyDelete
  81. A linzer bar sounds way better than a cookie. Much crumblier and more fun to eat!

    ReplyDelete
  82. I'm drooling over the thought of those guys in assless chaps...oh yeah, the linzer bars look damn good, too! Yum all the way around :)

    ReplyDelete
  83. Thanks for the comment on my blog. I'm so excited to find yours! I love the linzer bars. Great pics.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Im still laughing about this one! You always crack me up!

    ReplyDelete
  85. I am ashamed of you Donna. I have lost all respect. While I love your linzer torte bars, I was really disappointed in your comment that you wanted to see those guys in cowboy chaps and nothing else. You SHOULD have said that you wanted to see those guys in handcuffs, and nothing else. Tsk, tsk, tsk.

    ReplyDelete
  86. I'll take those gorgeous and delicious Linzer bars over the beefcake ANY DAY! Bookmarked!

    ReplyDelete
  87. I wouldn't know what to think...I would probably think there was a Chippendale's nearby and they just finished their shift.
The linzer bars look amazing :)

    ReplyDelete
  88. This recipe is going to keep me busy in the kitchen with all its glamor. This is another must for the weekend.
