Strawberry Jam Turnovers and Mexican Pinwheels

Quick Strawberry Jam Turnovers Mexican Pinwheels
I think the movers stole my damn sex toys. I knew my FFH shouldnt have marked the box My Wife's Toys. Can't find the box marked adult eyes only home videos either. Whore heels,
wigs, costumes, and blowups MIA also. Its pissing me off royally too. Where oh where are you purple people eater when I need ya? Makes me recall, though, how nice my movers were.
I had some nice hot looking moving guys let me tell you. Bend ,baby, bend I said in my mind. OK now lift it over your head big guy dude. And again and again.. Flex the muscles my man.
NO, not those muscles, I mean the muscle, yes THE muscle. Let me view the lumpage.
Hey Mr. Mover guy look at me as I bend over too. See I can lift this big heavy box, look at my ass. Yes, my sweet derelict, I wore the thong for youLook down my shirt big mover guy.. I'm bending this way on purpose hot dude. Yep, those are my gorgeous boobs. And no I am not chilly. Oh, youd like some nice freshly squeezed lemonade, see how I massage the lemons. You like that dontcha.. dontcha.. How bout a nice banana to go with it, Id love to provide entertainment while you men sweat for me..I can do wonders with a banana, and am even better with a garden zucchini.
As a side note, my FFH can do tricks with squash blossoms.. So nice were my movers. EXCEPT they kept calling my M'Am. EWWWW!! I am SO NOT a Ma'am. I am a sexy lady hot momma whore
to my husband kinda girl. I am not a ma'am. Call me babe, honey, toots, pretty lady, sweet cheeks, mother may I, but NOT M'AM! That is the ultimate sin. Wouldn't you say?

Onto my Mexican Pinwheels. This recipe is rom the Ultimate Southern Living Cookbook. Perfect little party appetizer. This was one of my contributions to a 4th of July party we attended. Lasted a little long , had some overnight guests and popped the pictured quick and easy strawberry cheese danishes in the oven for my overindulgent guests before kicking them out the front door. Along with some bloody marys of course.

Let's start with the Mexican Pinwheels. Gather these ingredients.

Combine all ingredients in a bowl,
except the flour tortillas. Spread about 1/2 cup mixture
over each tortilla Roll up tortilla jelly roll fashionWrap each roll in plastic wrap separately.
Chill 3 to 24 hours. Unwrap and cut off little ends. Cut each roll into about 10 slices .
Platter them as you wish. Look how cute they are.
Makes about 60. Tasty little morsels.
Easy finger food and can be made ahead which is best.
I think it needs a shot of red though, wouldnt you agree? Suggestions to add? Onto my quick, simple, easy Strawberry Jam Turnovers. Recipe from Good Housekeeping Magazine 1993. Uses 5 freaking ingredients. Get them together. Preheat oven to 375. On a cookie sheet, separate dough into 4 rectangles; pinch the seams closed. Sprinkle with some confectioners sugar
Spoon some of the whipped cream cheese, and some of the strawberry preserves in center of each.
Fold corners to center and press. Brush tops with egg white.
Bake 15 to 20 minutes till golden. Come out like this.
Little messy, but who the hell cares.
Sprinkle with confectioners sugar. Done.
Yummy little treat.
Easy for unexpected overnight drunken slob fool guests.
They will love them.
Best eaten warm with a thumb up your ass.
Just seeing if you're reading.

The pinwheel is a very versitile snack- you can go Mexican, Italian, American, etc. I make a ham, Havarti cheese, cream cheese, and onion one that seems to get gone quickly! I am more grawn to those turnovers- perfect two bite size! Oh yeah... You seem a bit horny today! I like that in a woman...

Hey, I love those turnovers. 5 ingredients cant be beat. The pinwheels are very festive, but you are right, they may need a shot of color. Im sure they are delish, anyway.

Who is the man with plenty of muscles?
Are all 3 boxes gone? Did you check the cellar?

I was wondering why I had this box labeled "my wife's toys" sitting here. I should have known it was yours. I am not sure about that whole "thumb up the ass" thing, but I'm always up for new challenges!

We used to make turnovers (you know those ones that come in a can) all the time with my dad as kids. I love em!

The mexican pinwheel looks great. Totally great for the kiddos for lunch too!

Anj said...

Pinwheels are just the best appetizer ever. The turnovers look like something I would love to make for sure, will have to bookmark that one. I want to say also that I think your new home is just beautiful!

Cathy said...

Try some chopped roasted red peppers or pimento in them! They look delicious! Best new toy in the world...the Wee Vibe - comes in an eye glass case...ya know, in case it goes to work, or on holidays ;)

Danielle said...

The pinwheels look great! They'd be pretty with a little red...maybe roasted bell pepper? I wonder how they'd be if you toasted up the tortilla first?

I had no idea turnovers could be so easy....never crossed my mind to eat them with my thumb up my ass either LOL

Hairball said...

I agree that your pinwheels would look nice with a punch of color. Maybe replace all or some of the green chilies with some roasted red peppers?

Willoughby said...

Your recipes are really making my stomach growl today. I should know better than to read to your blog when I'm hungry.

How about adding some pimiento to the roll ups? That would give you a little color and go well with the flavor.

I'd love to try the turnovers. They remind me of the recipe I posted for jam and cream cheese filled croissants.

Maybe some tiny chopped tomatoes? Both of those are sooooooooooooooo easy and makes me wonder why I hadn't thought of eitherone before. I like also that they are adaptable to everyone's taste.

Thank you Ma'am for sharing the recipes! :)LOL

Yum, they both wonderful, I think the diced tomatoes or red bell peppers would be good in it, for the red :)

First of all, you should have marked THOSE boxes, cleaning supplies or BOOKS. Secondly you BETTER double check all the kids closets to make DARN sure the missing box isn't in there. One rainy sunday when they are bored you may here a "OH MOM...!?"

THAT is a conversation you DON'T want with the young kids!!!

I would toss some jalapeno in those pinwheels, or maybe roasted red pepper. Or just leave them as is, they look great! Turnovers do too, I love cream cheese and jam.

Bob said...

Hm, some jalapeno or roasted red pepper would be good in those pinwheels. Or nothing else, they look fantastic. :) So do the turnovers, jam and cream cheese are like some kind of wonderful drug. :)

Karen said...

Love the jam tarts.. will have to try those. The platter of pinwheels is so cute... I'd just sprinkle some paprika over them and call them done!

Chef E said...

Love the tarts! I am hungry for something sweet, so I might have to make some tonight...always love pinwheels! You tart :)

the ungourmet said...

The pinwheels look great. What about seeded diced tomato?

The turnovers would be a hit at my house too!

Linda said...

Donna...Honey you just have to learn that you can't mark boxes with what is really in there!
Decorators will tell you to leave boxes unmarked so you have a surprise when you open them. You may find uses for the things in there in new ways, in new places...wink, wink!!
Have made the pinwheels before...excellent and easy. I really like the pinwheels too!

Pam said...

I am loving both recipes. I'll take 2-3 of each... please?

Snooky doodle said...

Joanne said...

your guests must have been in heaven! As for those movers...I wouldn't be surprised if they took your box. It might explain the whole ma'am business...they were intimidated by your sexual prowess!

Claudia said...

The pinwheels are grand. Love the ease. You could go for some red - but I think they look sort of serene. I must be into sere these days. And the turnovers are wonderfully easy!

Faith said...

Love the pinwheels, such a cute little finger food! Those turnovers look delicious also!

Monica H said...

Thumb up your ass...ha! ha! ha! Yes, I was reading. I always do.

And I have to say, those are 2 very important boxes that you don't want missing. Eeek! Hope you find your box!

How about adding some chopped roasted red peppers or use a can of drained Ro-tel instead of the green chiles. or better yet, leave the filling the same and change out the tortilla to one of those flavored colored wraps. Also I'm really surprised your pinwheel recipe makes 60 and not 69 pinwheels :-)

Those little turnovers look delicious- yum!

Krista said...

Pinwheels are the best! I'll have to try the Mexican version, they look delicious! And those turnovers are awesome! I love anything that I can make with refrigerated crescent rolls. I'd love to make these for breakfast with coffee and NOT with my thumb up my ass. See, I'm reading.

Reeni♥ said...

How about bacon? Bacon, bacon, bacon. I love the pinwheels - the possibilities are endless! And those are such yummy turnovers - but I think you need both hands to eat them! That makes the thumb trick hard, but funny, haha.

Lexie said...

I saw a turnover similar today on Barefoot Contessa and now these...I think it is a sign for me to make some :) The pinwheels are so cute and unique. They look so good!
You better be giving those movers a call and find out what happened to that box!!! You are a hoot!

♥peachkins♥ said...

You can add some red bell peppers to that pinwheel. It will add color and flavor too!! Love all the ingredients in them.

Cate O'Malley said...

Note to self: be careful what I label boxes with our upcoming move. :)

Bunny said...

Of course you know I love the pinwheels, I have to try these, I love cresent rolls, cream chesse, jam!! The pinwheels look great! How about some red pimento?? That's a lot of stuff to be missing by accident, maybe Mr. Mover Man likes your heels and wigs too!!LOL!!!

Helene said...

You know how to put some spice in the life of someone. I always have a good read when I come here. Love the pinwheels also.

Kim said...

I love the pinwheels and have had them this way before. I like the pimento, roasted red bell pepper, rotel tomato ideas all. You can't go wrong with that recipe. Love the turnovers too. Hopefully you recover all your missing toys and props : ) Maybe you put them in a "safe spot" and forgot where that was? I do that all the time.

Lin said...

You are so funny, Donna! I agree, I HATE to be called Ma'am! I also make a pinwheel similar to the mexican but with crescent rolls and an italian bend. I'll have to check for that recipe and maybe put it on my blog.
I think Pillsbury comes out with so many yummy easy recipes using their products, don't you? I'm sure the one I use is from them.
I think to add some red to your mexican rollups, maybe some chunky salsa that you've drained? Chopped tomato, or sun-dried tomato? Red bell peppers?
Those strawberry ones look yummy!

Debbie said...

I hate being called Ma'am also. They all say that down here and it gets on my nerves and makes me feel older than I already am! Great Mexican pinwheels. They are perfect for a potluck. I love the strawberry turnovers and will definitely be giving them a try. Very versatile. I bet you could use any jam flavor in them and they would be great! Thanks Donna!

I've been on a little holiday for the last couple of weeks without internet access and I've missed ya Donna. I'm glad to see you're back to your old self.

I'm a southern gal and I grew up calling everyone Ma'am and Sir out of respect. It's in our genes and we can't get away from it. Perhaps your mover was a southern gentlemen and meant no offense. His Mother made him do it.

These turnovers look to die for. I would hae never guessed to make them with that crescent dough. Clever idea.

A Feast for the Eyes said...

You're back! There's the Donna that I know (and love). I paused and licked my chops, looking at those turnovers. Pure indulgent sin. I want some! I should have sent you my strawberry jam, after all! Great job, and love your feisty humor. Hope you find your toys soon.

Libby said...

Yummm those look good!!

Sarah, The New Girl said...

those do look great! I agree about the red in the pinwheels; I was going to say tomatoes, but I read the recipe again and I immediately thought of red peppers. mmm. glad you enjoyed the movers :)

Katrina said...

Maybe some red pepper chopped really small in them.
We're moving next year, maybe if we get some good movers it won't be so bad. I've really been dreading it. ;)
The turnovers look great!

Megan said...

I just made a pastry very similar to these pastrys. Mine was a big one with a glaze but otherwise, same ingredents. Sorry I haven't left many comments, I'm reading, but sometimes when I go to comment, my computer says something about operation aborted. I get so damn mad!

Little Miss Baker said...

are you trying to kill us all?! haha this looks so so yummy Donna :) YUM!!!

The Blonde Duck said...

Those turnovers look great! Maybe you could serve the pinwheels with salsa!

The Short (dis)Order Cook said...

A shot of red? How about some roasted peppers or even some bacon? Better yet - CHORIZO! Yeah. I'm all about the meat. Totally into the meat.

(You could also just sprinkle on some extra chili powder).

Your tarts are so pretty. Whoops. I meant turnovers. I wouldn't want you to get the wrong idea. Really delicious though. Great idea if you're in a jam (no pun intended - okay, maybe I intended it a litle bit)and needed a tasty and quick dessert. Really. Who doesn't like crescent rolls?

Sara said...

Both sound amazing, but I have to admit, I do have a weakness for things that contain strawberry jam!

The Duo Dishes said...

Turnovers will be made. Yes, they will. That's not such a hard recipe there, and we know folks would die for them!

teresa said...

They both look SOO good, as expected! For something red I was going to suggest red pepper or pimientos too, but it looks like there a lot of great minds thinking alike!

Good luck finding your toys!

Maria said...

Love the turnovers!

catherine @ www.unconfidentialcook.com said...

Cream cheese and jam are the best...heated, that is. One of the things that cemented my relationship with Bruce was when I spotted his toast-tight thingee in his cabinet. Do you know what that is? Anyway, you make a cream cheese and jelly sandwich on the kind of soft white bread you don't want your kids to eat. Butter both out-sides, place in toast-tight and cook over the flame of your stove until the cream cheese is warm and runny, and melted into the jam. The key is the toast-tight because it keeps the edges tight (so this is MUCH better than if you tried to make a panini).

Kara said...

Sheesh Donna, you're killing me. Every single recipe that you post looks so good that I have to add it to my "to try" pile. I don't think I'll live long enough to get to all of them. ;)
