Crockpot Pot Roast and Walnut Filled Pillows

Crockpot Pot Roast Walnut Filled Pillows Odd combo, but it is what I made today. I needed a crockpot meal you see, because we planned to be outside all day decorating for Christmas. This Crockpot Pot Roast, a Paula Deen, found here, fitted me like a nice piece of Victoria's Secret lingerie.

So, I woke up early, dusted off my crockpot, gathered my ingredients, seasoned my chuck roast with salt, pepper, and garlic powder, seared it in hot oil on all sides. While it was searingI readied the ingredients by mincing the garlic, crushing my bouillon, and slicing the onion.Once the meat was seared, I placed it in The crockpot with all of the other ingredients on top. Then poured some water to just cover it all. Put the cover on the crockpot and cooked on low for 8 hours. When finished, remove the meat to a cutting board, slice, although there is really no need, it's SO DAMN FREAKING tender. Mix the gravy in the crockpot well, remove the bay leaves. I guess you can thicken the gravy here if you'd like, however it is fine the way it is and it is a convenience meal!! Serve the slices of pot roast with the yummy gravy. Simply delicious meal for when you know it will be a busy day. Delicious flavor!

These walnut filled pillows were introduced to me by my sister. After her description I made them immediately. They are reminiscent of my czech walnut pastries, but quite easier!! And they were fabulous.

Original recipe from Taste of Home here. I only made one alteration. I didn't take many photos of the steps required to make these, I was short on time. Basically you make a dough, cream cheese, butter, flour...refrigerate for an hour. Make the filling with ground walnuts, sugar, milk, vanilla, and my addition cinnamon. Roll the dough out, Cut into 2x2 squares. Place 1 teaspoon filling in center. Seal. Press with fork on edges. Brush with egg wash. Bake, sprinkle with powdered sugar. Enjoy. This is a special cookie. This is a fantastic cookie. These will be on my Christmas Cookie trays this year! Hope you try it!
